Hi lovelies,
So I’ve been umming and ahhing about these powders since I got them. Honestly I’m not a huge fan of pressed powder but it has it’s place in a kit. Just wish the loose powder was available in the UK….
The Maybelline Fit Me pressed powder is available to purchase from Boots (here), Superdrug (here) and Amazon (here). It retails for £6.99 and contains 9 grams of product. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £25 with both Boots and Superdrug. Most items on Amazon are on prime with free delivery but be sure to double check the seller before purchasing.

The packaging is a little bit bulky for a compact but I quite like it. It has a hard plastic case with a clear cover to see the shade inside. The back of the compact contains all product information including the ingredients list. The compact has 2 layers: the top one contains the pressed powder and the bottom one contains a sponge and a mirror. This makes it perfect for popping into your bag for on the go touch ups.

This powder looks to be available in 8 shades which sound like a good range but there’s barely any shades for darker skin. According to the product description, this is a 16 hour powder that effortlessly blends into the skin. It works to absorb oils while mattifying the skin and minimising the appearance of pores. Although the website states that they are against animal testing, this does not feature the cruelty free bunny but it is vegan.

Of course, I picked up 2 shades; translucent and natural ivory and naturally I swatched them to see the differences. Both shades look to have a decent amount of pigment but the translucent is definitely more white than translucent and will brighten up your foundation quite a lot. I’m not sure I’d be comfortable using this shade on anyone with an olive complexion or darker. Considering the translucent, I’m wary about the other shades lightening darker foundations although I can’t really tell with my shade.

The powder itself is amazing. It’s soft, silky and surprisingly easy to apply. The sponge applicator that comes with it, is perfect for on the go touch ups although I wouldn’t apply the powder initially with it. It sets your base into place for hours without it creasing or transferring. It’s particularly good at shine control without looking cakey at any point. Personally, I love wearing this powder alone particularly on oily skin days as it gives you a matte looking finish to the skin. It works well with other powder products too.

Overall, I am pretty happy with the Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder but I do wish there was a better shade range. Although the packaging is a little bit bulky, it is sturdy and kind of the perfect travelling companion due to the mirror and sponge holder. The powder itself is amazing. Soft, silky and easy to apply, it sets your base in place for hours and controls shine over the day.
