Nyx Cosmetics Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Foundation Review

So, I’m currently on the hunt for something to replace my Smashbox foundation since I can no longer get it in the UK (sob sob).

The Nyx Cosmetics Can’t Stop Won’t Stop foundation is available to purchase from Boots (here), Superdrug (here), Look Fantastic (here) and Cult Beauty (here). It retails for £15 and you get 30ml of product. You qualify for free UK delivery on orders over £25 with all 4 suppliers though you can also shop in store with Boots and Superdrug.

The packaging is very typical for a liquid foundation. It comes in a glass bottle with a cap and a pump applicator. All product information, including the ingredients, can be found on the front and back of the bottle. The pump works great at dispensing the foundation but the overall design of it and the lid makes for a very messy experience over time.

According to the product description, this is a pigmented, high coverage foundation that lasts for up to 24 hours. It has a lightweight, non-drying formula that is waterproof, transfer proof and stays true to colour. It works to control shine and mattify the skin throughout the day. Suitable for normal, oily, combination and sensitive skin types, this foundation is also cruelty free and vegan.

This is available in 45 shades which I have to say is pretty inclusive. For once, I’m seeing a larger selection of shades for those with olive and deeper skin tones. It seems like Boots and Superdrug keep a limited range on the makeup counters but a larger shade range is available online. I visited a counter and even though I grabbed four shades, none are my colour so I’m having to mix two of them. Naturally I had to swatch them to see the differences in colour and they handled well with good pigment. There was some slight oxidisation to the colour but not enough to get a lighter shade.

The formula has a medium consistency-it’s not runny but it’s not really thick either. It’s easy to apply and blend onto the face but can settle into larger pores and fine lines if applied heavily. It’s definitely full coverage so you don’t need to use much and lighter application results in a smooth, matte finish to the skin. It works will with other cream and liquid products and when set with powder doesn’t move or transfer. It’s worth mentioning here that because this is a no drying formula it can shift and settle while working on concealer, contour etc. I’d advise a quick touch up of the foundation after doing the rest of your creams but before powdering.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with the Nyx Cosmetics Can’t Stop Won’t Stop foundation when you consider the price. The packaging feels well made and sturdy though the design of the pump and lid can make things messy. The foundation itself is pretty good. Full coverage, matte, long lasting. It can settle into pores and fine lines when applied thickly so be aware of that. It works well with other products and doesn’t transfer when set into place.
