MyKitCo My Big Brush Buddy Review

So I took advantage of the Coronation Day sales (thanks Queenie) to make some major changes to my pro kit and this was one of them. Always worth keeping an eye on their website as they have deals regularly.

The My Big Brush Buddy is available from the MyKitCo. website (see here) as well as from Look Fantastic (here). It retails for £55 for everything and you can also purchase the insert separately for £9 if you need a replacement. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £40 from MyKitCo and on orders over £25 with Look Fantastic. US babes can also shop with Beautylish but the cost is really not worth it for us in the UK. Shipping from MyKitCo is fast with my buddy getting delivered a few days after ordering.

According to the product description, the My Brush Buddy was created for professional makeup artists as a revolutionary way to carry and store your brushes. Since then, it has continued to evolve with several options now available. The Brush Buddy is made of tough canvas and heavy duty PVC to provide durability and visibility. There’s an elastic band on the bag for attaching to a case or trolley as well as an adjustable shoulder strap for carrying. The buddy comes with an acrylic insert that provides some structure to the bag as well as divides the space into 6 segments.

As you can maybe see in the images, the buddy arrives in a flat pack and the insert requires a small amount of assembly. I say assembly, not really, more like slotting some pieces together. It’s a little bit awkward to sort but not difficult. Without the insert, the bag has very little structure and is quite collapsible which is great if you need to store it. The insert does add quite a bit of weight to the bag but not so much that it’s uncomfortable to carry. The full insert gives you 6 segments but you can customise this slightly creating 4 segments-2 double sized sections. The insert really helps to keep your brushes a bit more organised and easy to find. There’s plenty of room in it too. I’ve currently only got 2 full sets of brushes in mine and there’s room for loads more.

Everything about the Brush Buddy feels high quality and well made. The bag itself is made from strong materials that are easy to clean and durable. The strap is not only adjustable but detachable too if you prefer to sit this on a desk. The points of attachment for the strap are thick, sturdy plastic clips and the additional padding makes it fairly comfortable to carry even when working on a client. In fact, it’s entire design makes life easier when working with your brushes. The curved flap offers the perfect protection for your brushes and the material makes it easy to fold back without flopping forward. The design of the opening allows for easy access and the zippers and velcro keep the flap secure.

Overall, I am so happy with the Big Brush Buddy from MyKitCo. Honestly it’s everything you need for your makeup brushes whether you’re a professional or not. It’s perfect for sitting on a surface or for travelling/on set work. Everything feels well made and secure using high quality materials. There’s plenty of room inside for all your brushes and the segments allow for some organisation. The overall design allows ease of access to all segments and the strap is pretty comfortable to wear.
