Yet another item that I’m testing for my professional kit.
The Revolution Pro Satin Lipsticks are available in many different collections and can be purchased from the company website and Beauty Bay. I’m going to break each set down a little further later but each collection contains 5 full sized lipsticks that retails for £7 each. Each collection features a variety of warm and cool tones of the same colour group though only one finish. However, there are both matte and satin sets available for most collections. I’m not sure if these lipsticks are available to purchase individually but there are similar shades from other collections available.
The packaging is the same for each collection. There’s an outer box that contain all product information including the ingredients and colour swatches around the back and sides. Inside the lipstick components themselves are very typical for a bullet lipstick. There’s a lid that clips tightly into place and a smooth rolling mechanism. One thing I love is that you can actually see the lipstick colour at the bottom as well as the sticker on the bottom.
Out of the 10 collections that are available, I’ve grabbed 4 sets with the aim of picking up a few more depending how they perform. I grabbed the matte nudes (Revolution, Beauty Bay), Bare (Revolution, Beauty Bay), Pinks (Revolution, Beauty Bay) and Matte Reds (Revolution, Beauty Bay). All lipsticks are cruelty free but, of the four I have, only the matte sets are vegan.
Of course I had to swatch them and as you can see there’s a good variation of colours in each collection. I did worry at first that the matte nudes and bare collections would be far too similar in shades but turns out there’s quite a difference between the two. All the shades felt smooth to swatch and delivered good colour without any streaks. You can also see the difference in finishes too with the satin ones having a glossy look.
On the lips, they perform really well. The formula is so smooth that they all glide on with ease. The matte lipsticks feel slightly less creamy then they’re satin counterparts but they still apply smoothly. The Bare collection does feel particularly soft so I wouldn’t press too hard when applying them. Saying that, all the lipsticks look stunning on. They are highly pigmented and can be applied with a brush without streaking. They don’t bleed outside of the lip line either which is great if you don’t like to wear liner.
All of the lipsticks feel comfortable to wear throughout the day. The matte lipsticks don’t feel too drying on the lips and the satin ones don’t feel greasy or sticky in any way. Naturally, because they are cream lipsticks, there is a fair amount of transfer onto cups, glasses etc. The satin finishes transfer more than the matte ones but some colour does remain on the lips despite that. The red tones did stain my lips slightly but it didn’t last long and actually looked nice so no complaints there.
One thing to note here-to save some room within my kit, I bought some empty palette so I can depot the lipsticks. With the formula being quite soft, it was relatively easy to move them into a palette. They’re lasting well too.
Overall, I am really happy with these purchases from Revolution Pro and I will definitely be ordering some of the other collections. The packaging isn’t anything amazing but as I’m depotting them, it doesn’t really matter. The rolling mechanism of the lipstick component does work smoothly though. The lipsticks themselves are highly pigmented, smooth and non streaky during application. Although they do transfer, the colour lasts. The lipsticks aren’t drying, sticky or tacky in any way.
