Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder Review

Hi lovelies,

I’m still on the hunt for the perfect powder to add to my kit…

You can purchase this from the Fenty Beauty website (see here) as well as from Boots (here), Harvey Nichols (here) and Sephora UK (here). It retails for £26 and you get 28g of product. There are travel minis available but at £17 for 7.8g, it’s definitely better value for money going big if you can. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £62 with Fenty Beauty, over £25 from Boots and over £20 from Sephora. Shipping for beauty items from Harvey Nichols is £3.50.

The packaging is gorgeous and really did exceed my expectations. There’s an outer box decorated in the Fenty colours of black and white and contains all product information including the ingredients. The jar itself is fricking huge, feels heavy and high quality and looks expensive. Not only is there a powder shifter within the jar already, there’s a spare in the box too. My only complaint about the packaging is that I wish there was a cover over the shifter to keep that powder in the jar when it’s in my kit.

According to the description, this powder is super fine and silky loose powder that sets and extends makeup wear. It works to blur the look of pores, fine lines and imperfections for a smooth finish all day. It’s available in 8 shades to compliment every skin tone allowing you to set and brighten your base with a seamless blend. It doesn’t look cakey, settle into fine lines or produce flash back and minimizes shine without an unnatural finish to the skin.

To start with, I absolutely adore the shade range and even more impressed that they are actually stocked in places. If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know my struggle has been real to stock powders for dark skin tones. I’ve already picked up three shades-Butter, Nutmeg and Coffee-though I did only start with my shade so that’s pretty telling in itself.

The powders are stunning and I have a new favourite without a doubt. First of all, they smell like candyfloss-every client that I’ve tried them on have said the scent is so nice and I have to agree. It’s not overly scented and although it lingers slightly you don’t notice it after the initial application. The powder is super fine and feels soft and silky to touch as well as on the skin. It leaves you with a gorgeous matte finish that still looks like skin and controls shine throughout the day. Having used this on a night out, I can safely say that it keeps your makeup in place for hours without moving or settling into any lines. It doesn’t look cakey either even when baking.

Fenty vs Unset Base
Fenty vs Beauty Bakerie Oat Powder

In comparison to my transluscent powder, the shade Butter is a touch more brightening and the colour adds extra coverage and blurring. Surprisingly, the powder doesn’t change your base products too much when you use the right shade. It can highlight any shade matching and blending issues though when the wrong shade is applied. If needed, you can use multiple shades to enhance all tones within the skin as they blend together seamlessly-something I’d highly recommend for darker skin tones.

Nutmeg under the eyes; Coffee elsewhere

Overall, I am so happy with the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Setting Powder that I went and bought another 2 shades for my kit immediately after trying it. They are stunning. They melt into the skin helping to blur pores while setting your base for hours leaving you with a soft, matte finish to the skin. It doesn’t shift or settle into any fine lines and it doesn’t look cakey either. The shade range is amazing meaning that there’s something for everyone.
