Hi lovelies,
This one had tons of hype across social media and, as I love Makeup Revolution, I had to see what all the fuss was about.
You can purchase the IRL Filter Foundation from the Makeup Revolution website (see here) as well as from Beauty Bay (here), Boots (here) and Superdrug (here). It retails for £9.99 and you get 23ml of product. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £35 with Makeup Revolution; on orders over £50 with Beauty Bay and on orders over £25 with Boots and Superdrug.

The packaging is the industry standard for a liquid foundation but feels sleek and high quality for an affordable brand. It comes in a glass bottle that contains all product information, including the ingredients, and has a pump nozzle to dispense the product. The pump works smoothly, dispensing a slightly smaller amount than usual but it’s actually great for controlling the amount you use. The bottle also has a clear cap which fits snugly into place but doesn’t clip or snap onto the bottle. It still feels quite secure though.

According to the product description, this foundation is a filter in a bottle. This is a medium to full coverage foundation that is available in 30 shades. It is breathable, buildable and blendable to give you the coverage you desire and leaves you with a soft focus, matte finish to the skin. It is enriched with niacinamide to even out the skin and is oil free. It is also shine free, creaseproof and smudgeproof for 16hours long lasting wear. The foundation is cruelty free and vegan.
I’m over the fricking moon with the shade range available for this foundation. There are a number of options for every skin tone which I love. Now you may not find all the shades on a makeup counter but thankfully there are plenty of swatches online to match your shade. I need to give kudos to Makeup Revolution on this as they have a fabulous shade matching tool online and you can even use other brands of foundation to match too. I picked up the shade F5 which is for light skin tones with golden undertones.

Of course, I had to swatch my new foundation and I was pleasantly surprised how little it oxidizes. Even throughout the day, the colour only becomes slightly darker. The formula has a nice consistency-it’s not too thick or too thin-that makes application pretty easy. It blends seamlessly into the skin giving you a pigmented coverage and leaving you with a soft, matte finish to the skin. Your skin still looks like skin though. It can be built up for more coverage in areas where you need it without it going patchy or looking cakey. It feels lightweight on the skin making it easy to forget that you’re wearing it all. It certainly feels like a filter in a bottle so far.

On the skin, the foundation works well with other products-both wet and dry. Creams and other liquids can be applied and blended without the foundation underneath moving or lifting and once set with powder, remains in place. It’s worth regoing over your foundation with a sponge before setting with powder as it can start to settle into the lines of face when still wet. Over time it does start to breakdown around the nose but that’s only after a several hours of wear.

Overall, I am so happy with the IRL Filter Longwear Foundation from Makeup Revolution. For me, I think this is up there with one of the best foundation formulas I’ve tried-it’s certainly topping the affordable brands list for sure. The packaging is high quality and well made making the foundation easy to dispense. The formula is stunning. It is a lightweight, breathable, highly pigmented and oil free foundation that leaves you with a matte finish that lasts for hours.
