Made By Mitchell Blursh Lights Review

Hi lovelies,

So Made by Mitchell may have had a flash sale on all Blurshes last week and I might have snapped up several new shades from the lights set. I did already have a couple of shades before now but for some reason completely forgot to write about them.

You can purchase the Made by Mitchell Blursh Lights from the company website (see here) as well as from their Tiktok shop (here*), Beauty Bay (here) and ASOS (here). They retail for £16 each which is pricey I know so keep an eye on for the sales as they come pretty regularly and have decent savings. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £55 with Beauty Bay and over £40 with ASOS. I’ve often found Tiktok shop is cheaper for shipping than the company website and that’s where I purchased.

The packaging is practically the same as the standard liquid blursh just with some slight differences. It looks like there’s been a packaging redesign since I originally purchased mine as we’ve lost the lightening bolts and got squiggly metallic text instead. I think I prefer the new design to be honest as it fits in with the rest of the branding and I love the touch of the bubble text matching the shade inside. Of course, there’s the traditional Mitchell, neon green colouring for the outer box as well. The product itself comes in a squat tube with a doe foot applicator that works well.

There’s not much in the product description about this other than it is the long awaited, long wearing answer to dewy skin. It is Blursh’s shinier sister with a new formula that is a liquid like no other. They have buildable coverage and are easy to apply. That’s it. Essentially we have liquid highlighter. From videos online it seems like Drip Drip and Clear as Day are the only ones that actually contains glitter particles, the rest are sheens containing pearlescent pigment.

The Blursh Lights are available in 10 shades that offer something for everyone. I’ve picked up 4 of them so far: Drip Drip, Clear as Day, Champagne Spray and Coppa Cool. Drip Drip is pure silver and is one of the bestselling shades, Clear as Day is a lilac with a rainbow metallic shift, Champagne Spray is a champagne nude with a silver shift and Coppa Cool is a deep bronze. I’ll be the first to admit I was a little dubious about these as I really don’t get along with liquid highlighters so let’s see.

As usual, I had to start with some swatches and I’ve fallen in love with at least 2 of them. They actually look different on the skin than they do in bottle-lighter and more manageable in colour. They still have a decent amount of pigment but it’s not as intense as say the regular blurshes. These are clearly all about the shine and shine they do. For me, I think Clear as Day is stunning when you want a pop of colour and Champagne Spray for a more natural glow. I say more natural….

On the face, these are actually pretty mind blowing. The formula is pretty much the same as the standard blurshes as it starts off creamy and dries down to a satin powdered finish. The pearlescent pigments used leave you with quite an intense glow even when using a small amount of product. Thankfully, this can be tempered with a bit of setting powder over the top but you don’t need it to set it in place. It dries down in about a minute giving you enough time to blend into the skin and then it doesn’t move. They didn’t highlight any skin texture or cause a cast on the skin away from the light.

Champagne Spray on Cheek – Coppa Cool on Lid – no base
Drip Drip on Cheek – Clear as Day on Lid – no base

Here’s where we get to the mind blowing part. It can be applied straight onto the skin, onto your wet base or even once you’ve set your base. GASP! I know the first 2 aren’t that exciting as that’s how most liquid highlighters work but you can apply the blursh lights onto a completely set base without it interfering with any of it. I’m not sure how but it’s remarkable. On top of that, you can also use them in other areas too such as the eyes or the lips. Drip Drip is gorgeous as an eye or lip topper as well as on the skin for an overall glow.

Clear as Day on Cheek – Drip Drip on Lid – full base – blursh applied under powder
Champagne Spray on Cheek – Coppa Cool on Lid – full base – blursh applied on top of powder

Overall, I am so happy with the Made by Mitchell Blursh Lights and that’s saying something. I’m not usually a fan of liquid highlighter but these are gorgeous. They are easy to apply and blend into the skin seamlessly without highlighting skin texture or leaving a cast to the skin. The smallest amount produces the most intense glow that remains in place once it dries down. It can be applied over the top of a wet or powdered base without lifting any products underneath.
