Hi lovelies,
We’re back with another affordable palette review for you today.

The Beauty Bay Tropical 16 colour palette is available to purchase from the company website (here) as well as from Superdrug (here) and Amazon (here). The 16 pan retails for £14 but a 9 pan is also available for £9.50. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £25 with Beauty Bay and over £30 with Superdrug.

The packaging is the usual brand standard for their palettes. There’s the usual black outer box with the satin text design that contains all product information including the ingredients. Inside, the palette is well protected during transit with a layer or two of bubble wrap. The palette itself has a more colourful design that reflects the shades inside. As always, there is a mirror on the inside of the lid and a magnet to hold it closed. The palette is a good weight too and feels well made. This is cruelty free and vegan.

This is a 16 pan palette containing 10 mattes and 6 shimmer shades that scream tropical summer vibes. Twas the colour story that sold this palette to me in all honesty and I love that there are multiple colour blending options for a smaller palette. The pans are the standard size for Beauty Bay palettes, being big enough for most eye brushes and the shade names are underneath.

When doing the swatches, the shadows felt soft and looked highly pigmented. One or two of those lighter blending shades did need a double swipe to get the full impact of the colour. All of the shades swiped pretty evenly but the shimmers definitely swiped better than the mattes. Unlike other palettes, none of the shimmers in this one became clumpy.

On the eye, the shadows are stunning, for the most part. The mattes are super easy to apply and blend with minimal effort. Although you do lose a bit of vibrancy during blending, they can be layered without any patchiness to build that intensity. The shimmers applied smoothly with no clumping and are easy to blend. They look so stunning with plenty of reflective particles that make them shimmer and shine.

There was some kickback in the pan for most of the shades but only the shimmers produced fallout under the eye. Even then it was minimal and easily removed. The pink shades did stain my eye slightly but it didn’t last longer than a day and wasn’t too noticeable.

Overall, I am so happy with the Beauty Bay Tropical 16 colour palette. The shades look as good in front of you as they do in the online photos. The colour story is cohesive and the shadows soft and buttery. They are highly pigmented, easy to blend and look stunning on the eye. The shimmers look gorgeous, full of shine and sparkle though they start to crease after an hour or two.
