IT x Revolution Dripping Blood Lip Stain Review

Hi lovelies,

I’m kind of amazed that I’m still reviewing the Makeup Revolution Halloween collaboration. In all honesty, this is one that I never intended to purchase this one but it worked out as better value to purchase the full collection.

The IT Dripping Blood Lip Stain is available to purchase from the Revolution Beauty website (see here) as well as from Beauty Bay (here), Superdrug (here) and Amazon (here). This retails for £5.99 and contains 4.5m of product. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £35 with Revolution and on orders over £25 with both Beauty Bay and Superdrug.

The packaging is the industry standard for most lip products but it’s pretty basic for a Makeup Revolution collaboration. There’s no outer box, there’s just a sealed plastic wrap around the component which is slightly disappointing but it does the job. The lid screws tightly into place so there’s no leakages and there’s a doe foot applicator attached. All product information including the ingredients can be found on the bottle and online.

According to the product description, this stain will add a soft wash of blood red colour to the lips. The doe foot applicator glides the stain onto the lips and it dries down quicky leaving you with a light tint of colour. This stain is cruelty free and vegan.

Again, I have mixed feelings about this one. I was surprised at the consistency of the formula. I didn’t expect it to be sooo thin and was slightly worried about it bleeding past the lip line. It’s not too bad though. Just a slight bleed and only when you apply large amounts before letting it dry. The doe foot is the perfect size and shape for applying the tint evenly in one swipe.

It applies easily too and despite the gentle flush of colour, it is actually quite pigmented. Even a thin layer leaves you with a red tint, not a pink one, red and the stain can be built up to take the colour from a soft wash to a bright colour. Thankfully it dries down pretty quickly but I wish it stayed in place longer. The more you wear, the longer it lasts as it doesn’t actually stain your lips. With one layer, it barely lasts an hour before it’s disappeared which isn’t great. Since it’s a stain it feels very lightweight to wear, you pretty much forget you’re wearing it.

Overall, it’s a bit of a mixed bag of feelings for the IT x Revolution lip stain. It’s not awful, like, it has decent pigment, applies easily and is comfortable to wear. It also delivers such a cute wash of colour too but it doesn’t last very long. It’s kind of essential that a lip stain stays on.
