Beauty Bay Chamomile + Oat Lipid Cleansing Balm Review

Hi lovelies,

I’m coming to the end of my beloved make it melt remover from PLouise and I spotted this during the Beauty Bay sale and thought I’d see how it compares.

The Beauty Bay Chamomile and Oat cleansing balm is available to purchase from the company website (see here) as well as from their Tiktok shop (here)* and Superdrug (here). Full price this retails for £10 and you get 90g in the jar. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £25 with both Beauty Bay and Superdrug.

The packaging is exactly what you’d expect from a cleansing balm. There’s an outer box that contains all product information including the ingredients and directions for use. The jar itself is pretty standard with a screw cap lid and an extra cap on the inside to further protect your balm. There’s also a small spatula included in the lid space too.

According to the product description, this is a rich balm that cleanses and melts away makeup to leave the skin feeling clean and comfortable. It’s formulated with Chamomile that helps to calm inflamed skin and oat lipid to replenish the skin during cleansing. Directions of use state to apply a small amount to dry skin and message in small circular motions with water until you get a milky film. Wipe off with a cloth. It’s cruelty free and vegan while being suitable for all skin types although you may need to double cleanse if you have an oily complexion.

So of course, I didn’t follow the directions of use the first time I used it and didn’t realise I needed to add water. Well, it worked fine without the first time but I did need to use a little more and it was a touch harder to wipe away, leaving some residue behind on the skin. However, either way it’s used, it will remove everything including that stubborn ass waterproof mascara with ease. I think it even reduced the staining left behind from some pink eyeshadow too although it didn’t completely remove it.

The balm itself is really nice. The first thing that hits you is the scent. It’s giving eucalyptus along with other things but it does not contain perfume so it’s all natural scents. It’s appearance makes it look quite hard in the jar but it’s pretty soft so you don’t need to dig the spatula in nor do you need much. Although the balm is thick, it applies easily and works with minimal effort without feeling too greasy or heavy. It also left my skin feeling soft and smooth though I do need to double cleanse to remove all the balm and residue. Naturally I haven’t got any decent photos of removal but check out our socials for a test video.

Overall, I am so happy with the Chamomile and Oat Lipid Cleansing Balm from By Beauty Bay. As much as I love my PLouise Make it Melt remover, this does the same job for a lot less and I can’t argue with that. It really does remove even the most stubborn makeup and helps to reduce staining too while protecting and soothing your skin.
