Trigwell Cosmetics Velvet Setting Powder Review

Hi lovelies,

So I’ve been seeing a lot about Trigwell Cosmetics across Tiktok so I finally decided to try me some.

The Trigwell Cosmetics Velvet Setting Powder is available to purchase from the company website (see here), their Tiktok shop (here) as well as from Beauty Bay (here), Look Fantastic (here) and Just My Look (here). It retails for £14.50 and you get 8 grams of product.

The packaging is what you’d expect from a loose powder. Shaped a little differently true but still the same old screw top jar. The outer box contains all product information including the ingredients and the jar has a curved triangular shape. The lid screws tightly into place and there’s a sifter to stop your powder pouring out. But yeah, the unique part is the shape of the jar.

According to the product description, this is a ‘velvety feel’, ultra soft loose powder that offers medium coverage and a soft matte finish. It’s long lasting lasting formula minimises the appearance of pores and reduces shine while leaving your skin feeling smooth. This powder is talc free so there should be no flashback or creasing and it is cruelty free and vegan.

The Trigwell Cosmetics Velvet Powder is available in 9 shades; there’s pink and translucent as well as shades ranging from almost white to deep. I picked up the translucent shade as it’s a great way to test the actual powder and not just colour coverage. I do love that there are more than 2 shades for darker skin tones available.

The powder itself is incredibly fine, much finer than the Fenty Pro Filt’r and more like the RCMA powder which also makes it very soft to touch. It’s easy to apply and you don’t need to use much to set your base either. Although I didn’t see any additional coverage with the translucent powder, it did help to brighten my undereye when compared to my Fenty powder so I’m going to assume that the coloured shades give some coverage.

Trigwell vs Fenty

On the skin, the powder looks and feels amazing. Not only does it leave your skin feeling soft and smooth, it makes it look it too. It doesn’t highlight skin texture and I’ve not noticed any flashback in any photos so far. It works well with both liquid and powder products, it doesn’t lift or shift during the application. The powder keeps everything in place for a couple of hours before it starts creasing but even then it’s only around the eyes and nose. It’s pretty lightweight so it’s very easy to forget your wearing makeup. My only real complaint is that it needs to come in bigger pots.

Overall, I am fairly happy with the Trigwell Cosmetics Velvet Setting Powder and I’m definitely going to be getting some other shades. It does everything it says on the tin and is available in a decent range of shades. It leaves your skin looking soft and smooth while setting your base in place for hours.
