Beauty Bay Berries 42 Colour Palette Review

Hi lovelies,

Another product that I’ve been sitting on for about 6 months…

The Beauty Bay Berries 42 colour palette is available to purchase from the company website (see here) as well as through their Tiktok shop (here)*. The 42 pan retails for £25 but there’s also 9 pan and 16 pan palettes available. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £25 and your order will be with you within a couple of days usually.

The packaging is 100% the brand standard. We have the usual black outer box with a satin black design and white text that contains all product details including the ingredients. Like all other Beauty Bay palettes, the front is coloured to represent the shades inside. There’s a magnet to keep the lid closed as well as a huge mirror on the inside.

This is a 42 pan palette containing 26 mattes and 6 shimmer shades. As the name suggests, this is full of pink, red and purple tones. The pans are a decent sized and all embossed with the company logo. The shade names are written underneath the pans.

When doing the swatches, most of the shadows felt soft but there were one or two issues. The mattes were fine, swatched easily and smoothly with only the darker purple looking uneven. The shimmers however, we kind of a different story. Some seemed to have been pressed too hard and it’s a struggle to get anything from them. Others are almost crumbly and can clump together when trying to use them.

On the eye, most of the shadows are gorgeous. All are highly pigmented and for the most part easy to blend. Not going to lie, some of those darker mattes can go a little bit patchy depending on how they’re being layered. Definitely want to use those ones first blending from dark to light as it stops that patchiness and blends seamlessly. The shades remain vibrant throughout blending but can be layered where needed. The red and purple mattes are some of the best I’ve tried and I’ve been looking a while.

Most of the issues in this palette definitely come from the shimmers which is such a shame because the colours are stunning. So as mentioned above some are crumbly and some are packed very hard. The crumbly ones ultimately crease after an hour or two, some last longer than others so it’s hit and miss. Naturally, it’s hard to get good colour from the ones that are pressed hard. Most look gorgeous on the eye, full of shine and sparkle but they could be better.

I actually expected quite a lot of staining with this palette considering the red based nature but it only really occurred with the purples and that really bright pink. The reds were completely fine. All of the mattes and most of the shimmers produced kickback in the pan but only the crumbly shimmers created fallout under the eye.

Overall, bit of a mixed bag with the Beauty Bay Berries 42 colour palette. I’m still more than happy about it because the quality of those mattes if phenomenal. Some of the best reds and purples I’ve used. The shadows are highly pigmented, vibrant and mostly easy to blend and the shimmers look amazing. Cannot complain when you consider the price.
