Hi lovelies,
I can’t believe that I’ve been sitting on these since last October…thank god they haven’t been touched until now. Looks like we’re starting Halloween early this year.

Somehow, both products are still available from the Revolution Beauty (blood and blender). The balloon blood is also available from Superdrug, and Amazon. The blender retails for £5.99 and the blood at £4.99 for 35ml. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £30 with Makeup Revolution and on orders over £25 with Superdrug.

The packaging is fairly simple for a Makeup Revolution collaboration. The blender comes in a standard box with a plastic holder and the blood comes in a solid glass bottle with an eyedropper applicator. I absolutely love the bottle of blood and I’ll probably repurpose that in the future.

According to the product descriptions, the blender is a multi-tasking hero for your makeup routine. It is perfect for your base whether that be foundation, concealer, contour or even your setting powder. The blood can help you serve up equal parts of glam and gore using the pipette applicator for creating easy blood drips.

I was actually pleasantly surprised with the balloon blender. It’s a lot softer than it looks and doubles in size when wet. It’s also pretty easy to squeeze any excess water out of it as well. When damp, it bounces across the skin with semi even distribution of product. Personally, I don’t like applying products with a sponge for this reason but as a blending tool it leaves you with a beautiful, soft finish to the skin. The only issue I have with the sponge is the flappy part at one end instead of a point. I get it’s the bottom of the balloon but there’s no way to get into certain areas with it.

The blood, oh the blood. So it has a fairly nice consistency, not too thin or thick so it does run but not everywhere. It’s very controllable for a liquid. While wet the colour is pretty spot on even when used lightly but you can create deep colour with careful layering. Once dry, it does lose some of that realism and deep colour. One thing to keep in mind with the Balloon Blood is that it does stain quite badly and in a short amount of time. I only had it on my skin for two minutes before wiping it off and the image below shows the stain.

Overall, I’m reasonably happy with both the Balloon Blood and Balloon Blender from the IT x Makeup Revolution. They’re the perfect affordable items for halloween particularly the blood. The sponge leaves you with a soft finish to the skin for blending but can be a bit patchy for application and you can’t do certain areas of the face with it. The blood is ok, works as it should but does leave your skin stained so take care.
