Hi lovelies,
Back to the usual affordable makeup for you today.

The Beauty Bay High Key mascara and the eyeliner pen are available exclusively on the Beauty Bay website. The mascara retails for £12 for 13ml and the eyeliner for £8 but they are also available as a bundle that is currently on sale (here) for £15 (full price is £20). You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £25 with Beauty Bay otherwise it’ll be £3.95.

The packaging is exactly what you would expect from these products with a touch of the Beauty Bay style. There’s no outer box for the mascara, just the tube, but the eyeliner has one in the usual matte black with a satin black design. The eyeliner pen itself has the same design as the outer box but with white and silver colouring. The lid of the liner snaps tightly into place keeping the liquid fluid. The mascara tube is the industry standard and nothing new.

According to the product description, the High Key mascara is an ultra black mascara that has been designed to create instant length and volume for a panoramic effect. The hard brush has been designed with soft bristles to lift and separate all lashes including those hard to reach ones. It’s also being infused with conditioning rice bran wax. The eyeliner pen has an ultra flex felt tip for precise application. This is a waterproof, vegan formula that lasts up to 24 hours and delivers an ultra black glossy finish. Both formula’s are cruelty free and vegan.

On the eye, both products perform pretty well. Lets start with the mascara. It actually does what it promises in the description. The formula delivers both volume and length as well as the ultra black finish. It applies easily with the brush and although it’s kind of thick, it doesn’t go clumpy with multiple layers. With the thickness, comes some slight heaviness so it’s not super lightweight but it’s also not too noticeable. It also stays where you put it, unless you rub your eye it doesn’t really transfer and is a bit tough to remove.

Now the eyeliner pen is the one that really surprised me. You know me and eyeliner pens…it usually ends badly but not this time. The formula flows easily through the nib needing minimum pressure so there was no pulling at the skin meaning no creasing or thick lines. The nib is thin enough to draw some very fine lines though it strong enough to hold it’s shape during application. Honestly between the nib and formula, application of a pen liner has never been easier for me, it basically glided on. The colour is good too with it delivering a solid black in a single layer. It lasts all day without moving or creasing either.

Overall, I am really happy with both items from Beauty Bay but I’m honestly blown away by the eyeliner. It lasts all day without budging, cracking or creasing and the tip enables you to create very fine lines. The mascara does exactly what it says it should but it’s nothing new or special. It lengthens, it volumises and it delivers solid black colour.
