Hi lovelies,
So I might have done a thing…I say thing, let’s go with business investment considering the time and effort going into effects makeup.

The Glisten Cosmetics Spectra Bases are available to purchase from the company website (see here) as well as from Beauty Bay (here). They can be bought individually for £12.99 each for 20ml of product or you can buy the full collection bundle (here) and save some pennies. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £25. I’m not 100% sure on costs with Glisten as it is calculated during checkout and it was free for this order.

The packaging is pretty standard for a foundation. The outer boxes are coloured to match the shades inside and contain all product information including the ingredients list. The foundation itself comes in a bottle that I think is plastic (no issues with that) with a pump dispenser. Now this is slightly different to others as there’s no tube inside for said pump so it pulls product from the top instead of the bottom.

The Spectra Base Collection is a range of coloured foundation that is available in 10 shades. According to the product description, this is a full coverage foundation that will leave you with a soft, satin finish. They have a water resistant yet lightweight formula that blends seamlessly into the skin without feeling cakey or uncomfortable to wear. The shades can be mixed to further expand the range and can be set with powder for longevity.

Ok so let’s get the housekeeping out of the way. The formula is maybe slightly thicker than most standard liquid foundations but there’s not much in it to be honest. They work and apply like any other. There is a slight chemically scent to them but again, it’s no different to other liquid foundations. The shade range is perfect, it’s covers most of the colours you may need and they are really easy to mix if you need a customised shade.

Oh I think I’ve fallen in love. Literally. I’ve used them for every makeup done this halloween-in fact I’ve not touched my water based paints since I purchased this collection. Each shade is pigmented AF and leaves you with a satin finish to the skin. I’ve not have any streaks or patchiness though be careful layering wet over set. Before setting with powder, they are easy to wipe away if you need to make any adjustments to your makeup. Always good when you’re working with strong colours. You definitely want to set these with a powder or eyeshadow as they don’t dry down by themselves. The colours do lose some vibrancy when set with powder but that can be brought back with eyeshadow.

Once set, the Spectra Bases don’t really move much, there is a small amount of transfer if they get rubbed but it’s fairly minimal when I think of other products. They even survive small amounts of liquid like rain, drinks or tears. It doesn’t crease or settle into any fine lines either. Surprisingly, they are really easy to remove with basic face and body cleansers doing the trick. What’s even more surprising is that there is very little staining to the skin. I’ve tried all but the purple and the only one that stained me was the pink. Even then it was gone in less than a day.

Overall, I am so frigging happy with the Glisten Cosmetics Spectra Bases. Worth every penny for me. I’ve used them so much for Halloween and still not even halfway down any of them. They are highly pigmented, deliver full coverage and are super comfortable to wear. They last for hours without creasing, can withstand small amounts of liquid and are easy to remove when you want too with almost no staining to the skin. I don’t think I could ask for more.
