Hi lovelies,
We have our first spooky styled product of the year with one of the two P.Louise spell book palettes. Now given the choice, I would have got the magic book instead of this but as it came in a mystery box we’ll make do.

The Hocus Pocus Regain Focus Palette is available to purchase from the P.Louise website (see here)* as well as through their TikTok shop (here)*. It retails for £40 and UK shipping will set you back a whole £1. Shipping from either source arrives quite quickly unless they’re having a huge sale.

The packaging is typical P.Louise extraness but you know I love it. The palette is designed to look like a book complete with lock and key to keep your spells safe. The outer box has the same design but is missing some of those finer detail although both items contain all product information. I absolutely love the strap, lock and key detailing but it is annoying AF to keep locking it. Thankfully you don’t need to lock it to keep it secure as the magnets hold both sides shut.

According to the description, this is a spooky inspired palette full of greens, purples and oranges. Despite containing what seem to be non cohesive colours, there are enough tones to provide a range of blending options for them. I really love the colour story but I wish there were some spookier shades in there.

When doing the swatches, all of the shadows felt soft and although they were all easy to pick up on the finger, some felt drier than others, if you get me. You can kind of see it in the swatches with some not swiping as evenly as others. It’s mostly those darker shades to be honest. Some of those lighter shades needed a couple of layers to get that pigment to pop on the skin. The shimmers feel almost creamy and swipe easily and evenly.

On the eye, these shadows definitely benefit from having a lighter hand during application. They certainly apply easier when they are built up in gradual layers, blending as you go. They are fairly easy to blend when applied in this way. Some of them go a little patchy when packed on before blending particularly the purples. The shadows are highly pigmented and all work well together to create some beautiful blends.

The shimmers look stunning on the eye. Like the mattes, they are highly pigmented and easy to blend as well as containing plenty of reflects that really sparkle in the light. They last a few hours before they start to crease on the lid but besides that they last well. Some of the red based shades stain the skin slightly after wear but it’s fairly minimal and is gone in a day. There is a slight amount of kickback in the pan for all of the shadows but there’s hardly any fallout under the eye.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with the P.Louise Hocus Pocus Regain Focus Palette even if I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen this for myself. The shadows are highly pigmented, fairly easy to blend and work well together to create a range of colour blends.
