Revolution Beauty Truly Sinful Blood Eyeshadow Palette and Double Ended Mascara Review

Hi lovelies,

Happy Halloweek! Are you ready for Halloween? To celebrate your getting a double bubble review with 2 products.

The Truly Sinful Blood eyeshadow palette is available to purchase from the Revolution Beauty website (see here) and Beauty Bay (here). The Truly Sinful double ended mascara is also available from the company website (here) and Beauty Bay (here). The palette retails for £8.99 and the mascara for £6.99. Both products are cruelty free and vegan.

The packaging is pretty much the industry standard for both items but there are some unique moments in there. Both products come with an outer box with a red and white design bearing all product information including the ingredients. The palette has a hard plastic case with a “lava lamp” liquid moment happening in the lid which I kind of love. The mascara is packaged as you’d expect. The tubes are at either end attached in the middle via the handles of the wands.

I’ll start with the palette. This is a 12 pan palette containing 4 mattes and 8 shimmers. One half houses a lighter, more angelic side: the other half, deeper and darker. I’m actually not 100% sold on the colour story…I don’t find it that interesting particularly upon realising most of the shadows are shimmers of some sort.

When doing the swatches, all of the shadows felt incredibly soft. All have plenty of pigment but those mattes on the angel side needed a couple of layers before they stood out against the skin. The shimmers are gorgeous, pigmented, full of reflects and swiped evenly without any fuss. Two of them are more subtle though with the formula being matte with a small amount of reflects. These ones tend to twinkle rather than shine.

On the eye, the shadows are pretty good. Those two lighter mattes are pretty much next to useless though as they don’t really show up on the skin. They can be used to help blend out those darker shades though. The shadows are fairly easily to blend and can be layered up without any patchiness to create more depth to the colours. The shimmers remain stunning on the eye and are also easy to blend.

I’ve not really had any issues with the palette aside from a small amount of staining from the red shades. Not really an issue as it was very light and was gone in less than a day. The shimmers lasted a couple of hours before they started creasing on me which is also a bonus. There was some kickback in the pan for all the shades but practically zero fallout under the eye.

Onto the mascara. According to the product description, create high impact spooky looks with this double ended formula perfect for lashes, brows and hair. Both sides have a chunky, wide angled brush to produce maximum drama. Um…for once, I don’t really have much to say…it’s mascara. I’m not sure if it’s meant to lengthen or add volume or both or neither. I guess it just brings drama. Nah just kidding. Both colours coat the lashes well but the white can be a little opaque with one layer. Unfortunately, the formula does go a little clumpy when multiple layers are applied. Nothing special really.

Overall, I’m not totally sold on either product to be honest but at the same time, they’re not awful. The shadows are fairly pigmented, easy to blend and have some cute shimmers that don’t crease straight away. The mascara is hard to judge because what is it meant to do? I’m not sure and it feels a bit gimmicky. The black adds solid colour to the lashes, the white not so much.
