P.Louise Cosmetics You Drive Me Balmy Lip Balm Duo Review

Hi lovelies,

This is one that I picked up a couple of months ago and never got round to reviewing it for you.

The “You Drive me Balmy” lip balm dup is available to purchase exclusively from the Plouise website (here) and their Tiktok shop (here). It retails for £22 so keep an eye out for deals as I grabbed mine for £8 via Tiktok. P.Louise offers UK shipping at a flat rate of £1 if you order from the website, it varies when you shop through Tiktok.

The packaging has the usual P.Louise flair. The outer box is designed to look like a potion bottle but contains all product information including the ingredients in the lid. Inside the box, both items sit in a holder to stop them rattling about. The balms come in different applicators; one is a pen with a clicker at the bottom and the other is a tube with a doe foot at the end.

According to the product description, the lip balm duo brings you two new formulas to rejuvenate your lips for the perfect pout. They both contain jojoba oil, avocado butter and vitamin E to nourish and hydrate dry lips but the tube formula also has menthol. The duos are available in 16 “flavours” and I grabbed Apple for a refreshing change.

Well, how to talk about this one. It’s a difficult one because I really do not like this one at all but I’m not sure what makes this so bad for me. I’ll start with the pen which has a balm formula that almost melts into the lips during application. It applies smoothly and easily with the slightest hint of colour (yeah that means green for this one). It’s not too noticeable though. My trouble with this was the taste/smell. Soap…all I got was soap. It’s kind of a shame as the formula felt lovely but lasted about 5 minutes before I’d had enough. It left my lips feeling soft though so I should probably try another one.

Ok so onto the tube version. This one is more like a really thick gloss but still applies pretty smoothly but it is stickier than the pen formula. It’s still not overly sticky though which is a good thing. The bad thing is the menthol…dear god no thank you. I am not feeling that on my lips in winter or at all. The tingle is real people or in my case a slight burning. So yeah it lasted all of a minute before I removed it so I have no clue whether it works or not. This is probably the main reason I don’t want to spend £22 on a different “flavour”.

Overall, so far not the best from P.Louise. In fact I think this is one of the worst things I’ve tried from the brand and that’s really gutting for me to say. At least there is a chance of redemption for the pen formula as it felt nice but t’was a scent/taste issue. However, that tube formula-P.Louise please I beg you-remove the menthol coz I don’t think anyone wants that in a balm. Orrrr sell them individually please as I’d love to try a different pen.
