Hi lovelies,
So after the holidays and with the state of the UK weather right now, it’s clearly time for some much needed skincare.
The Emma Hardie Purifying Pink Clay Detox Mask is available to purchase from the company website (see here) as well as from Sephora UK (here), M&S (here) and Amazon (here). The mask retails for £45 and you get 50ml of product however, only the travel size is available on the website which is £9 for 15ml.

Now I only got the travel sized one in my beauty advent calendar so it’s a little hard to comment on the packaging but I’ll try too. Naturally the travel one comes in the standard thin, plastic tube with nozzle for dispensing. The full size mask looks to come in an outer box with all product information and either a glass or plastic jar. I think there’s a spatula for application too.

According to the description, this is a botanical rich mask that deeply cleanses, and balances the skin. The pink clay improves the skins moisture levels as well as refining the pores while natural fruit acids help to gently exfoliate the skin. It also contains Defensil to even out the complexion and reduce redness and inflammation. This is suitable for all skin types and is cruelty free and vegan.

So the first thing that hit me with this was the scent. I’m not 100% sure what it is but it’s fairly overpowering to the senses especially when applied to the skin. It’s not unpleasant but it does seem artificial. The formula itself is a little thicker and drier than other clay masks but it’s still fairly easy to apply smoothly and with minimal fuss. A little body warmth makes it easier to spread but it’s very controllable. I have to admit, it wasn’t the most comfortable application experience. It caused a fair amount of tingling in the skin that remained for a couple of minutes. Not too painful but not comfortable either.

When applied in a thin layer, the mask dries quite quickly and, once the tingling stops, is comfortable on the skin. Once dry, it’s easy to remove even when you don’t have the cloth. It rinses off with warm water and doesn’t leave any residue behind on the skin. After the first use, my skin felt so soft and smooth but it did bring a lot of impurities to the surface. However they came and went quickly. With consistent, use the breakouts become less regular leaving your skin looking clear and radiant.

Overall, this is a mixed bag for me with the Emma Hardie Purifying Pink Clay detox face mask. Personally I don’t like my clay masks to make my skin tingle or have an overwhelming scent and unfortunately there are other pink clay masks out there that don’t this. In saying that, this mask isn’t bad. It definitely helps to detox the skin providing deep cleansing to clear up any impurities.
