Revolution Beauty Truly Sinful PH Balm Blush Review

Hi lovelies,

Happy 400th post here on the RNB Blog…and we’re finally bringing in some Makeup Revolution for Halloween. Yeah this year’s Halloween collab was not for us over here.

The Revolution Beauty Truly Sinfuly PH Blush is available from the company website (see here) as well as Beauty Bay (here). It retails for £5.99 and you get 3.4g of product. You qualify for free UK delivery on orders over £30 with Revolution and on orders over £25 with Beauty Bay.

The packaging is actually really cute with the design running through the entire Truly Sinful collection. The outer box has a split red and white design with gold accents and a heart window to show the case inside. The box contains all product information including the ingredients and the colour change. The blush comes in a heart shaped compact that feels really sturdy and is a good size for slipping into your bag. The lid clasps tightly into place and there’s a mirror on the inside.

According to the product description, this black blush changes colour to adapt to your skins PH level leaving every skin tone with a flattering flush of colour. Yes you read that right…black…this is black. It has a buttery balm formula that leaves you with a soft finish to the skin. It’s still black. This is cruelty free and vegan…and black.

Now if you’re here from Tiktok (or you read above), you’ll already know I was a little dubious about this one…I really don’t trust those products that claim to change colour for our skin. However, this does actually work and when I say work it doesn’t just leave a black smudge on your face. As you can see from the pictures, it’s pink and quite pigmented so take care during application. I’m not sure if it turns into different shades of pink for different people but I haven’t tried it on anyone else yet.

tested alone

Ok so now we’ve dealt with the elephant in the room, onto the formula itself. Described as a balm, it is so buttery and soft but it doesn’t feel greasy at all. It’s not heavy on the skin either. Although pigmented it is really easy to blend into the skin and layers up well. When testing it with a full beat, I thought it applied better over an unset base, unsurprising, though it didn’t look bad when applied over powder. It just didn’t blend into the foundation as well. So when I did the first test on camera I thought that this set down by itself…it doesn’t. It remains a balm and therefore slightly tacky but it barely transfers.

tested on unset base

Overall, I’m actually surprised and more than a little impressed with the PH Balm Blush from Makeup Revolution. It’s a black balm that doesn’t apply black…magic. But it’s a really nice blush. It’s soft, buttery, pigmented and yet blends into the skin seamlessly. It’s not greasy or heavy on the skin and when set it doesn’t move.
