BirchBox UK August Subscription

Hi Lovelies,

I told you I’d ordered 2 subscription boxes and the second one is from BirchBox UK. Now the reason I ordered this was for 2 reasons. They support small businesses on Etsy and they had a cool free gift. You get 5 products in you’re subscription box every month, some are samples, a couple are full size and this costs £12.99 a month including p&p.

Absolutely love the design. My box this month was designed by Nikki Strange and you can check out her Etsy store by clicking here. If you want to join BirchBox UK use my refer a friend link by clicking here. There’s no extra cost for you but we might get some goodies and savings.

My first product that I have tried is the Dr Botanicals Pomegranate Superfood Regenerating Sleeping Mask (yea a right mouthful). To be used after cleansing and toning the skin so more like a moisturiser than a mask. It soaks into the skin pretty quickly and left my skin feeling soft the next day. I also had a nicer glow to my skin after using this mask and didn’t suffer any breakouts either.

The second product in my box is the Dirty Little Secret Eyeshadow Stick in the shade Fetch. This is a light gold colour that is really pretty but very subtle. The formula is creamy and easy to apply as well as having multiple uses (highlighter, lipstick). However this does settle into any creases around your eyes so I wouldn’t use this as a base or on its own.

I also received a Model Co baked highlighter in the shade Moonshine. This is a really tiny sample product but its so pretty. It contains light and dark swirls within the base to give you a subtle change of hue. It applies very smooth and you can’t see it until the light hits it and then BAM, blinding highlight. Does contain some sparkles but again they are subtle. I really am loving this highlighter.

My penultimate product is a conceal-it crayon by Lord and Berry and I’ve got mixed feelings about this. It’s slightly more yellow than what I would use around the eye but for carving out the brows I really like it. I don’t carve my brows if I’m not wearing eye-shadow mostly because I don’t like how it looks but this crayon does blend out so naturally that I can wear it without eye-shadow. However, I won’t be using this under my eyes are it looks really chalky on my skin (might just be me).

My last product as part of the box is the Number 4 Sugar Spray for adding texture to the hair. I have to admit I didn’t like what this did to my hair it left it looking stringy and greasy but my hair is very greasy naturally so don’t take my word on that. Looking at others reviews on Birchbox most people really loved it.

I did get another 2 products which were my freebies for joining. I don’t know if these gifts are different monthly but at least you get a freebie when you join. I got a Manna Kadar Beauty blush and a 3-in-1 brow, eye and cheek product.

My 3-in-1 came in the shade Trifecta. Perfect as a bronzer rather than contour for my skin tone and blends out easily. The formula is pigmented and creamy and does work well on the eyes although it does crease a little. I don’t think I’ll ever use this for my brows only because the shade is completely wrong.

The blush I received came in the shade paradise and has a lovely gold sheen when you look in the pan. Again this is super creamy and so pigmented that you don’t need much product at all. The sheen is only subtle when on the skin so it gives you a nice healthy glow without turning into highlighter.

So, I’m not completely happy with this box however at least I know what I don’t want without wasting money. I’ve found some products that I do really love and will probably purchase again so I can’t complain. Hopefully the next one will give me some more treasures.

Thank you for reading. I really hope you’ve enjoyed this post and that you will join me again in the future for more. Let me know if you have any suggestions or recommendations that you’d love to see here.

Rach xx
