NYX Cosmetics Ultimate Brights Palette review

Hi lovelies,

Another christmas present review for you. I can’t believe we are in September and I’m still writing about christmas and Black Friday hauls. I seriously need to stop buying makeup.

The NYX Cosmetics Ultimate Brights palette can be picked up from your local NYX store and is also available at Boots (see here). This is no longer on the NYX website but the palette is £16 from Boots. I’m not sure about delivery charges.

The palette is packaged in a simple plastic case that feels sturdy but not heavy. It is also small enough to fit into a handbag if you need it throughout the day. All ingrediants are listed on the back of the palette under a peel off sticker.

The Ultimate Brights eye shadow palette contains 16 shades; 13 eyeshadows and 3 pressed pigments. There is a beautiful range of rainbow shades in the palette with 7 of them being shimmery ones.

Most of the shadows in the palette perfom great on the eye. Unfortunately none of the shades have any names but you can see from the swatches below which ones I mean. It’s mostly the lighter shades that didn’t perform as well. The pink, turquoise, blue and green mattes are some of the better ones.

For the most part the shadows have decent pigment but they are buildable so you can get as much pigment as possible. They blend out pretty easily and the colours work well together.

The shimmers perform well but they aren’t spectacular. The shimer in the shadows is very subtle and you do need to pack them on to really see it. All of the shades are soft to the touch.

When doing the swatches, none of the shadows needed a double swipe, not even the lighter shades. They look pretty patchy on the arm but don’t behave the same way on the eye.

I haven’t experienced any issues with this palette in terms of irritation but the pink shades did stain my eyes. I don’t have an issue with this as it happens regularly with vegan and pressed pigments.

Overall, I have no issues with the NYX Ultimate Brights Palette. It is a drugstore company so I don’t expect miracles especially when at the price is so reasonable. The shadows perform well for the price with good pigment, buildable and easy to blend shades.

Thanks for reading. I really hope that you enjoyed this review and that you will join me for more in the future. Don’t forget to hit the like button or add a comment, you could even subscribe if you loved it. Below are some looks using this palette.
