Another christmas present from my beautiful mama. Hopefully I’ll get all the presents reviewed before summer.
There are a few pressed glitter palettes in this range each reflecting a different colour. You can pick up all the palettes from the Makeup Revolution website (see here) and they retail for £10 each. I got the Hot Pursuit palette which is a collection of pink, red and gold. Makeup Revolution is 100% cruelty free but only 3 of these palettes are suitable for vegans. This is one of them.
The palette comes in an outer plastic sleeve which I really don’t like. I prefer a cardboard sleeve so it can at least be recycled. You don’t need to keep the sleeves so why make it plastic? The palette itself is a glittery red although I haven’t noticed any paricles falling off.
The palette contains 9 shades; each one a pressed glitter. All of the shades are the same consistency in terms of particle size and smoothness. There are two duochrome glitters in this palette and naturally I fell in love with those.
When doing the swatches, I found all the shades very difficult to handle. It literally is pressed glitter so it tends to fall apart without a binding agent. All the shades were hard to swipe because of this.
One the eye, they were still hard to work with but a really sticky base (P.Louise works) or glitter glue gets it to stick. You really need to dig your brush into the pan in order to get a good amount onto your brush. I found it best to tap it on at first then spread it out. It gives you a more consistent finish.
All the shades have look marvellous when you get them on the eye. They are full of pigment and shine. When packed onto the lid, they are eyecatching and bring attention to any look. Being glitter, you do need to be careful when removing. My advice is cellotape so you don’t scratch your lid.
Overall, I am reasonably happy with this palette. Although I don’t really like chunky glitter for my lids, this is less irritating than I would have thought. I love the range of shades and they have amazing pigment and shine. For the price, you can’t complain.
