Hi lovelies,
It’s December which means…birthday present review. Thanks to my lovely family for getting me this one. This will be our last review before Christmas so we hope you all have a very happy holiday. The Beauty Bay Bright palette has had an upgrade and is bolder than ever. The original palette is still available though so don’t panic.

The Brights 2.0 42 colour palette is available exclusively from the Beauty Bay website (see here). It retails for £24 and you qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £25 (typical). There is also 9 pan and 16 pan palettes available too although you don’t need to get all three. Usually shipping from Beauty Bay is pretty quick but naturally we have the Christmas rush as well as a ton of strikes. Please, please, please do not leave poor reviews for businesses if orders get dispatched on time but get stuck in the system. It’s honestly not their fault and once it’s shipped there’s nothing they can do.

The packaging is almost to the original palette as well as other Beauty Bay palettes. There’s the usual matte black outer box with a satin black pattern and white writing. All product information including the ingredients list can be found on the back of the outer box but not on the palette. The palette itself is neon green with bright pink text. Everything feels well made and secure but its size and weight makes it a little awkward to hold. There’s a huge mirror on the inside of the lid that is held closed with magnets.

This is a 42 pan palette containing 30 mattes and 12 shimmers. There is a huge range of shades and tones for both finishes that offer a wide variety of gradient blends. The best thing is that I don’t think there are any repeated shades in the 2.0 when comparing it to the original. In fact, the shades from the 2 palettes seem to complement each other to produce an even greater variety of blends.

When doing the swatches, all the shades tried felt super soft and swiped smoothly. They are all highly pigmented and only needed one layer for an even swatch. Also, I barely touched any of the shades to produce these swatches. The shimmers are simply stunning. They feel like butter and sparkle like mad. They swipe smoothly and evenly with a good amount of reflective particles. Be warned some of the makeup looks below are a little crazy.

On the eye, the shadows perform well. They mattes are highly pigmented while being easy to apply and blend. You do lose some pigment during the blending process however the shadows can be layered up without any patchiness in colour. Honestly I’ve fallen in love with the blue mattes which are the hardest eyeshadows to get right. They’re some of the easiest blues I’ve ever tried and that says a lot. The shimmers are stunning. I found that they were easiest applied using my finger rather than a brush as it was easier to pick up the shadow.
Unfortunately, the shimmers don’t last very long on the lids before creasing. A couple of hours at most. It’s like they’re too soft and buttery. Not a huge issue as it’s an easy fix but slightly gutting because they are so gorgeous. All of the matte shades have some kickback in the pan though only the darker shades can produce a small amount of fallout under the eye. The shimmers have only produced kickback and fallout when I’ve used a brush for application though a few sparkles can still escape when using your finger.

Overall, I am over the freaking moon with the Brights 2.0 from Beauty Bay. The packaging is the same high quality I’ve come to expect from Beauty Bay, well made and secure with a huge mirror and reasonable sized pans. The shade range is gorgeous and complements the original palette perfectly while offering a huge variety of tones for gradient blends. The mattes are super easy to work with; highly pigmented, easy to blend and can be layered up if needed. The shimmers looks and feel fabulous but they don’t last long on the eyes. It’s such a shame but doesn’t stop me loving this palette.
