Hi lovelies,
We have a slightly different post for you today as the bestie and I decided to go to our first ComicCon. Twas a little last minute and we had no idea what to expect so we made a couple of mistakes…here’s one or two things to help you through your first con.

My number one piece of advice would be, don’t book it last minute. I mean you can they’ll probably always have tickets for guests even on the day payments but you may not get be able to get tickets for the popular events such as Q+As etc. For us, we booked Liverpool as quite a few Lord of the Rings cast would be there but unfortunately we booked too late to attend the Q+A which was a shame. There was still plenty of things to see though especially in the props section. Twas great to see some of the sets and other stuff used for various things.

The next few bits kind of follow on from this which is…know the schedule. I know this seems like an obvious thing but we didn’t even think about it. We kind of ended up wandering around the place like a fart in a trance trying to find everyone and work out what we were doing. It’s worth prebooking any autograph or photo sessions with the guests in advance too so you have some idea of your schedule. It may not be the same at every venue but it also saved money at Liverpool by prebooking as the prices were higher when buying on the day.

Speaking of money and cost…be prepared to spend some coin. We were given some advice to take our own lunch and honestly I’m so glad we did. There was plenty of food and drink available at the site but boy was it expensive and you didn’t get much for your money either. So yeah take lunch. Naturally the majority of pennies will probably be spent with any guests but there are also plenty of stalls of merchandise and art too.

I think the best part about the day was seeing everyone’s cosplay. I haven’t put any pictures up because in the moment I completely forgot to ask everyone if they were ok with me sharing them. Remember to always ask before taking any photos and respect any answers you are given. But yeah some of the costumes were amazing. Being very Lord of the Rings focused meant lots of cosplay from Middle Earth. I met a 10 year old Witch King of Angmar…very impressive.

Overall, it was a fricking amazing experience that could really have only got better if we had been better prepared. Now we know what to expect I really can’t wait for the next one that we’ve booked. Thankfully not last minute either. But yeah if you are a mega geek I highly recommend going to a comic con at least once. Just make sure there’s plenty of people you want to meet.
Thanks for reading. I know this was a little different to the usual. I promise regular posting will resume next week.
Rach xx
