Lottie London Shadow Swatch The Smokes Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hi lovelies,

I have another Lottie London swatch palette for you today. I’m sorry I’m repeating brands often but I’m running on a tight budget right now.

I purchased the Smokes Shadow Swatch palette from Look Fantastic (see here) but as its sold out you can get it on Ebay for a great price (see here). Look Fantastic is priced at £9.95 with free delivery and there’s usually a discount code available to save more. Delivery did take a few days due to the sale but it was at my door within a week.

The packaging is typical of the Lottie London Swatch palettes with the clear case and minimalist design. The lid clasp is fairly strong and won’t pop open in your makeup bag. All product information including shadow shades and ingredients can be found on the back. The pans are a good size for your brushes without being too big and the shades are clearly named. The size and weight aren’t cumbersome to hold for working MUAs and does come with a brush that I probably won’t use.

This is a 12 pan palette with a mixture of finishes. As with the other swatch palettes from Lottie London, the shimmers outnumber the mattes-there’s only 4 mattes. For a smokes palette it is kinda perfect though; you have your black, red, green and blue mattes which form the base of most smokey eyes and your shimmers offer variety.

When doing the swatches, the shadows felt soft and buttery to the touch. They swiped well with a single layer although the red matte did need a few layers to fix the patchiness. The shimmers swiped so much easier than the mattes and have good pigment underneath the shine.

On the eye, the shadows work well. They aren’t the most pigmented in the world but they are easy to blend and build up. With a few layers you can build a deep colour although it certainly won’t be bright. You’re gonna get dark and sultry with a sparkle. The shimmers look so pretty and the white one is great as an inner corner highlight. As with the mattes, you need to build up some of the shimmer shades mostly for even coverage of the glitter particles. There was some kickback in the pan and fallout under the eye for the majority of shades.

The shadows last a couple of hours before creasing but it’s an easy touch up with a bit of blending. I haven’t experienced any issues when using this palette aside from the eventual creasing. There was no staining or irritation to my skin and they were easy to remove, shimmers as well. Please note that I don’t have sensitive eyes or skin and if you experience any issues remove immediately and seek medical advice.

Overall, I am really happy with this purchase from Lottie London. For the price, you can’t go wrong. The packaging is secure and travel friendly. There is a nice shade range that covers the majority of smokey eye looks with some lighter shades that are handy as highlighters. Although not the pigmented of shadows, you can build up the pigment to create a deep colour. They are also really easy to blend and the shimmers fit perfectly with good pigment and sparkle.
