Beauty Bay New Romantic Palette Review

Hi lovelies,

Sorry there’s been no Glossybox post so far this month. I’m still waiting for it to dispatch hopefully it won’t be much longer. Until then we have another eyeshadow palette.

The New Romantic palette is available exclusively on Beauty Bay (see here). Not surprising considering it’s their product. It retails for £15 and you get free UK delivery on orders over £25. Dispatch and delivery is fairly quick with BB with packages typically arriving 2-3 days after ordering.

The packaging is so beautiful. Absolutely love the colouring and design of the box, it looks like an explosion of paint. The outer box is bigger than it needs to be but there is a bubble wrap insert around the palette to protect it during transit. All product information including the ingredients list can found be found on the outer box. I wish the ingredients had been put on the palette too but I love that the box design has been used for the text on the palette. The lid has a magnetic closure and has a mirror on the inside. It’s also a good size and weight to hold.

This is a 20 pan palette containing 12 mattes and 8 shimmers. The colour story and shade names fit with the name and aesthetic of palette and there is a nice range of dusty pinks, browns and golds. I love that there’s no bright pink in this one. This palette is limited edition so it may not be around for long and is cruelty free and vegan. The pans are a good size for the price.

When doing the swatches, the shadows felt smooth and silky to the touch. The matte formula looked a little chalky when I first got them on my finger but it looked fine when swiped onto the skin. The shimmers are some of the most beautiful I’ve seen. Very creamy with plenty of reflect. They sparkle. All swatches were achieved with a single layer of eyeshadow.

On the eye, the shadows perform really well. They are very pigmented and still easy to blend. Although you do lose some intensity when blending, they can be built up without any patchiness. The shades work perfectly together to create a range of gradient blends. The shimmers are highly pigmented and full of glitter and shine. They apply well with a brush or your finger and the shades offer you a pretty good variety.

There has been some kickback in the pan for most of the shades although only the shimmers and darker mattes product fallout under the eye. Unfortunately the shimmers crease on the lid after a few hours of wear but it is easy to smooth back over. I also noticed some staining with the shades Claret, Queen and Royal but it was only slight for the two matte shades.

Overall, I am so happy with the New Romantic palette from Beauty Bay. I love the packaging and it all seems well made and sturdy. The shadows are amazing. They are soft but still pigmented and easy to blend. The shimmers are buttery and full of pigment and shine. They look so beautiful on the eye. The colour story works perfectly together to give you a good variety of eyeshadow looks.
