BH Cosmetics Party in Puerto Rico Palette Review

So picked up a bargain as part of another haul on Beauty Bay. This one is part of the recently released Travel Series.

The BH Cosmetics Party in Puerto Rico palette can be purchased from the company website (see here) as well as Beauty Bay (see here). It retails for £17 but there is currently a sale on Beauty Bay so its £11.90. Snap it quick. You get free UK shipping on orders over £25 with Beauty Bay and on orders over $75 from BH Cosmetics. It is also cruelty free and vegan.

The packaging is quite simple. There’s no outer box or sleeve just a plastic wrap to keep it closed. Unfortunately I wish there was more packaging as one of the shades was damaged during transit. Thankfully only a portion shattered so it’s still usable. I love the design on the front featuring the city and all product information can be found on the back. The lid has a magnetic closure and it feels quite secure but I’m not sure I’ll be travelling with it too much.

This is a 16 pan palette full of oranges, pinks and browns. It contains 10 matte shades and 6 shimmers that are perfect for creating a variety of colour combinations. It’s weird but the product shots on BH Cosmetics make the shades look quite different when compared to the actually shades. They’re fine on the Beauty Bay site and are a good representation of what you are getting.

When doing the swatches, the shadows felt quite soft but a little chalky however they swatched well. The mattes didn’t drag very far so multiple layers were needed to spread them out but they seemed highlighted. The shimmers however swiped beautifully with a single layer. They felt soft and buttery with plenty of pigment and shine.

On the eye, the shadows perform quite well. The mattes definitely require a build and blend technique to get the best out of them. They are highly pigmented but can sometimes leave a visible line when packed on. They are fairly easy to blend when applied gently and are buildable to produce vibrant look. The shimmers are easy to apply with either a finger or brush and are so vibrant.

There is some kickback in the pan for all of the shades but very little fallout under the eye. The shimmers had minimal creasing after 8 hours of wear which is pretty amazing. In fact all the shades are long lasting and remained vibrant for hours. For once, I didn’t see any staining around the eye for any of the shades.

Overall, I’m really happy with this palette from BH Cosmetics. The packaging is cute I just wish there was more of it to protect the shadows as one of mine was damaged. Thankfully it’s usable so I’m not too upset since I got it in the sale. The shadows are pigmented and are fairly easy to blend when applied gradually. They can be built up to create more vibrancy. The shimmers are amazing with high pigment and shine while still being easy to apply. Unlike other cheaper palettes, these shadows remain vibrant and uncreased for hours with no staining on removal.
