This month marks Glossybox’s 10th birthday and thankfully it arrived in good time. I think they added in an extra item as an apology to regular subscribers about last month which is good to see. As always, the direct debit was paid on the first of the month with dispatch from the 5th.
We have a specially designed 10 year box which I actually really like. It adds to the party vibes with products inside to help you get ready. We have 4 full sized items and 1 deluxe mini plus our extra freebie.
The first item for me to try was the Sport FX Blend and Go makeup blending sponge. This was the freebie presumably from a previous box but thankfully it’s my first time receiving it. It retails for £4.99 and has a unique geometric design. Personally I found the shape a little annoying for blending out my under eyes, definitely prefer a rounded sponge with a point. The base did blend out my base smoothly but it’s just not big enough.
The next product in this months box was the Lottie London Ombre Blush in the shade Haze. This is really pigmented so be careful with it. It easy to blend into the skin without disturbing any products underneath. It can be built up to achieve insane looks or added softly for a rosy glow. Not bad for £5.95.
The third item in this months box was the Josephine Cosmetics Dew/You Liquid Highlighter. This retails for £26.20 and I received the shade Claire. I was a little worried about this one but it’s gorgeous. You barely need any to achieve a ridiculous glow and sits nicely on top of the rest of your base makeup.
The next product that I tried was the Steve Laurant Celebration Eyeshadow palette. Not overly impressed with this one as the mattes aren’t that pigmented. The shimmers are pretty but again there’s little pigment and only a subtle shine. I expect better from Steve Laurant. This retails for £23.
The penultimate item was the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. This retails for £30 (full size is £87 for 50ml). It has a gorgeous fragrance but may not be suitable for sensitive skin although the scent doesn’t linger. It was absorbed into the skin quickly without any residue left behind. My skin felt soft and looked hydrated with a radiant glow. Not sure if it’s fixing my wrinkles though.
The final product in this months box was the NCLA Beauty So Rich Cuticle Oil in Birthday Cake. This smells like actual birthday cake it’s freaking incredible really. Never used cuticle oil before but this did hydrate my nail beds really well after a few uses. You don’t need to use much so it should last a while. This retails for £13.50.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with the August 10th birthday Glossybox. Absolutely love the highlighter, blush and nail oil and I’m not mad about the cream and free blender. I’ll even use the shimmers from the palette so not a complete loss either. Yeah, not a bad box at all.
