Sample Beauty The Paradigm Shift Volume II Palette Review

Hi lovelies,

We have MORE Sample Beauty and another palette for you today. I’ve missed playing with different palettes.

The Sample Beauty Paradigm Shift Volume II palette is available to purchase from the company website (see here) as well as Beauty Bay (see here). It retails for £21.95 with Beauty Bay offering free UK delivery on orders over £25. I’ve never ordered direct with Sample Beauty so I can’t comment on cost or shipping times but Beauty Bay ship within a few days of ordering.

The packaging is fairly simple with a minimalist design like all of their palettes. I love the holographic writing against the matte black. Both the outer sleeve and palette have the same design and contain all product information including the ingredients. The palette is quite large so not the best for holding but it’s not too heavy. The lid has a magnetic closure and features a mirror for when you’re on the go.

This is a 35 pan palette containing 30 matte and 5 shimmer shades. There’s a great mix of shades and tones with vibrant rainbow hues and soft neutral tones. I kind of wish there were more shimmers as I really love the formula but the shades chosen will go well with all the shades in the palette. The pans are a good size for a 35 shades at this price.

When doing the swatches, the matte shades I tried felt soft but quite chalky. Some were a little chunky too which made them difficult to swipe. The shimmers were a completely different story. They are soft and silky to touch and swiped smoothly.

On the eye, the shadows perform better than expected after the chalkiness. They are highly pigmented but work best when built up and blended in layers. If you pack them on you’ll end up with harsh lines of colour and that’s not a good look. There was none of the chunkiness that I saw when doing the swatches thankfully. The shimmers are gorgeous. They are full of pigment and shine and apply smoothly. They can be worn for hours without creasing which is why I love them so much.

There is a small amount of staining on the skin with the pink and purple shades. It’s not too bad though and disappears after a day. There’s some kickback in the pan for the majority of the matte shades . Fallout under the eye only occurred with the darker mattes and shimmers but its fairly easy to wipe away. I’d definitely recommend doing your eyes before your base when using this. I’ve not had any other issues when using this palette but I don’t have sensitive eyes. If you have any issues stop using immediately and seek medical advice.

Overall, I am really happy with this purchase from Sample Beauty. I really love this packaging with the minimalist design and its a good size and weight for the price. You get 35 shades of the rainbow for your £22 with a great mix of tones. The mattes perform better on the eye than the swatches would have you believe and the shimmers are gorgeous.
