NikkieTutorials X Beauty Bay Pressed Pigment Palette Review

Hi lovelies,

I’ve been debating getting this one for ages now and since it was included in the Beauty Bay Black Friday sales, I finally made my mind up.

The NikkieTutorials x Beauty Bay collaboration palette is available exclusively at Beauty Bay (see here). It retails for £25 qualifying you for free UK shipping on it’s own. This palette is cruelty free and vegan. Even during the sale, shipping was pretty quick as it was delivered within 3 days of ordering.

The packaging is stunning. The outer box looks pretty plain at first but there’s a gorgeous holographic glitter to it. The design of the palette is mirrored in the design of the keyhole on the box and I love this touch. All information including names and ingredients can be found around the sides and back of the box. NikkieTutorials has described this palette as representing her bold and dark sides and the design of the palette shows that. There’s a reasonable sized mirror in each door with one side being magnified.

This is a 20 pan palette containing a mix of matte, shimmer and duo-chrome pigments. We get 12 mattes, 6 shimmers and 2 duo-chrome shades which I think is a good mix. I love the shade range; there’s a nice mix of bright and neutral tones along with various transition shades for creating gradient blends. The pans are a really good size too with the shade names written underneath.

When doing the swatches, despite all the shades feeling soft, some of the mattes had a chalkiness to them and looked chunky. Some of the shades needed a few swipes to get a smooth, even swatch. They look to be really pigmented though, I didn’t need additional layers of product. The shimmers are soft and silky and swatched so smoothly. The duo chromes have a gorgeous colour shift to them. The reflects in the shimmers make them really eyecatching.

On the eye, the shadows are amazing with none of the issues I saw in the swatches. They are so easy to apply and blend evenly. They even retain a lot of their pigment during blending which isn’t often the case. The shade Mikai is the easiest red I’ve ever worked with and I’ve tried a lot. The shimmers apply evenly with both brush and finger. They blend together and with the matte shades fairly easily too.

I was wearing the shimmers for about 5 hours before they started to crease which is great. There was a fair amount of kickback in the pan for pretty much every shade in the palette however there was very little fallout under the eyes and that came from the shimmers. The red based shades did stain the skin a little but it didn’t last more than a day. I haven’t had any other issues when using this palette but I don’t have sensitive eyes. If you experience any problems please stop using and seek medical advice immediately.

Overall, I am extremely happy with the NikkieTutorials and Beauty Bay collaboration palette. The packaging is everything and really tells us about Nikkie. I love how it’s split to highlight her different sides and the shades reflect that too. The shadows themselves are so beautiful. I was a little worried after the swatches but this proves that swatches don’t show a shadows potential. The shadows are pigmented, easy to apply and blend. The shimmer last hours before creasing.
