Hi lovelies,
Got a christmas pressie review for you today and it’s a good one. My family are awesome aren’t they.
The Barry M Velvet palette is available from the company website (see here) as well as from Amazon (here). It retails for £9.99; £10 on Amazon though get it or £9 on subscription (not sure why you need one for a palette though). You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £25 with Barry M and free as standard with Amazon.

The packaging is almost fully recyclable; it’s just the elastic strap that isn’t. I love the red fabric design on the front with the gold text. All product information including the ingredients can be found on the back of the palette. This is a double sided palette with eyeshadows on one side and base products on the other. The palette is a good size and weight for holding and is perfect for slipping into your bag for touch ups throughout the day if needed.

This is a multi-use palette containing 9 eyeshadows, a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter. There’s a nice mix of shades and finishes with 4 mattes and 5 shimmers. Although there’s few mattes, the shades do produce a couple of gradient looks. The shimmers add the versatility to the range though. The pans are a good size for the shadows with bigger pans for the face products.

When doing the swatches, all of the products felt super soft. The matte shadows were a bit wishy washy and didn’t swipe that well. The shimmers were solid in colour and swiped easily. Both the bronzer and blush swiped smoothly and looked pretty pigmented. I think the shades of the blusher and highlighter are pretty universal and will work for the majority of skin tones. The bronzer not so much definitely suited to paler skin tones.

On the eye, the shadows performed so much better than initially thought from the swatches. When applied over an eye primer, the mattes have much better pigment and were fairly easy to blend. They do loose some pigment during blending but they are easily built back up without any patchiness. The shimmers were easy to apply with strong pigment and shine. They are also easy to blend together for a gradient shimmer. Unbelievably, the shadows lasted for over 12 hours on my lids before I saw any creasing.
The base products are quite pigmented and are easy to apply and blend. They sit well on top of powdered foundation without disturbing any products underneath. All three products in the palette work well with each other to achieve sculpted cheeks. The highlighter is quite subtle but can be built up for a more intense shine although it’s not blinding.

There is some kickback in the pan for all of the matte eyeshadows as well as the bronzer and blush however not for the shimmer or highlighter pans. There was minimal fallout under the eye for all of the eyeshadows which is pretty impressive. I’ve not had any issues when using this palette.

Overall, I’m really impressed with the Velvet Multi-Use palette from Barry M Cosmetics. The packaging is nice and secure plus it’s almost fully recyclable. It’s the perfect travelling companion containing both eye and cheek products. The shadows are fairly pigmented and easy to blend while the shimmers add some versatility. The base products are the same and don’t move any products underneath them. A great addition to any makeup collection.
