I think this is my final Christmas present review for you all. A huge thank you to Les for this one.
The Barry M Cosmetics Nude and Neutral palette is available to buy from the company website (see here) as well as Boots (here) and Superdrug (here). It retails for £7.99. You qualify for free UK shipping on orders over £25 with all 3 companies however Superdrug beauty members get it for £15. Orders from all will be with you in a week.
As with all newer Barry M packaging, this palette is fully recyclable which I love about them. Of course this means there is no mirror or magnetic closure but you don’t really need either of them. The box design of the palette is what keeps the lid in place. The company and palette names are clear on the front with all other product information on the back. The palette is well made and has a good weight for holding. The pans are a good size and I love the detail of embossing some pans.
There are 2 palettes to the Nude and Neutral collection: Subtle and Rich. Although the shade range is similar the rich offers darker tones than the subtle. Both are suitable for all skin tones and eye colours though and contain 9 shades. Rich has 5 mattes and 4 shimmers of brown, gold and copper tones. Perfect for creating neutral looks.
When doing the swatches, the shadows felt soft to touch and swiped easily. Most of the matte shades needed a few layers to get an even, pigmented swatch. Despite that, there is a clear difference between the colours. The shimmers felt really silky and swiped smoothly with even colour. They are full of reflects making them shimmer in the light.
On the eye, the shadows are gorgeous though not massively pigmented. Not going to complain about that as they build up to create rich colours in a couple of layers. The shade range works well together and allow for some but not a lot of versatility. They are extremely easy to blend together. The shimmers are easy to apply and are full of pigment. On the eye, they appear a lot more subtle than the swatches but still add some shine. They also blend together well to create shimmer gradients.
Unfortunately, the shimmers don’t have great lasting powers as they crease in a couple of hours. Easily fixed thankfully. There’s kickback in the pan for all the shades but very little fallout under the eye. Just a few shimmer particles really. Other than that, I’ve not had any issues with this palette. If you are experiencing problems, please stop using and seek medical advice.
Overall, I am pretty happy with the Nude and Neutral Rich eyeshadow palette from Barry M Cosmetics. At £7.99 it’s affordable yet pretty high quality. The packaging is well made and secure plus fully recyclable. Although the shadows aren’t the most pigmented they build up to create rich colours.
