Hi lovelies,
I’ve been seeing this one popping up on my social media for months now and I fell in love the moment I saw it. I’ve finally been able to purchase it as a hopeful replacement for the JSC Blood Lust.

The Love Notes palette from Beauty Bay is available exclusively through the company website (see here). This retails for £15 with UK delivery costing £2.50. Unfortunately, it seems like Beauty Bay have changed their shipping terms so now you qualify for free UK next day delivery on orders over £60 or grab a haul pass with perks. It sucks however my order still arrived within 2 days.

The packaging is the standard for Beauty Bay items. There’s an outer box containing all product information including the ingredients list. I love that it’s designed to look like an envelope and is coloured to match the palette and shades. The palette itself has a design of gold with text to match and also contains all product information. There’s additional protection for the palette with a bubble wrap sleeve inside the box. The palette is a good size and weight for holding and uses a magnet to secure the lid. There’s a decent mirror on the inside of the lid and a protective sheet over the pans.

This is a 20 pan palette containing 12 matte, 7 shimmer and 1 duo-chrome shade. I really love the colour story of this one-lots of purples, pinks and nudes in a variety of tones. There’s a nice mix of lighter and deeper shades for creating a range looks with added variety coming from the shimmer shades. The pans are a good size for the price and have the shade names underneath.

When doing the swatches, the shadows felt really soft and smooth. They swiped evenly with good pigment after a single layer though some of the lighter mattes did need a second layer to really show the pigment. The shimmers feel so silky and are full of pigment and reflect particles. They swiped evenly with one layer.

On the eye, the shadows perform really well. They are pigmented yet remain easy to blend and can be layered to produce depth. The shades work well together to produce a range of gradient blends. I was really impressed with the shade Glove as purples are notorious for being patchy but this is *chefs kiss*. The shimmers are gorgeous though can be a little tough to pick up with a brush at first. They are also fairly easy to blend and that duo-chrome has an amazing pink/gold shift.
Some of the shimmers last longer than others before creasing however none make it past 4 hours unmoved. There’s some kickback in the pan for most of the shades and fallout under the eye only occurred with the shimmers. I’d definitely recommend doing the eyes before the base when using this palette. I’ve not had any other issues with this palette-not even any staining from the purples and reds which is amazing.

Overall, I’m so happy with the Love Notes palette from Beauty Bay. The packaging is cute and well made with the added bonus of extra padding to protect your palette during transit. There’s a good mix of shades, tones and textures to this colour story that are pigmented, buildable and easy to blend. They work well together to offer a variety of looks though the shimmers don’t take long to crease. None of the shades stain the skin though which is a surprising bonus.
