Beauty Bay Bright 42 Colour Palette Review

Hi lovelies

Another affordable palette for you today with this one from Beauty Bay. Got to love a good rainbow palette.

This is available exclusively to purchase from the Beauty Bay website (see here) or through the Tiktok shop, feel free to head to the RachNevsBeauty page to help us earn some commission. This palette retails for £24 with standard shipping at £3.50. You qualify for free UK delivery on orders over £30.

The packaging matches with the rest of the original bright palettes from Beauty Bay. There’s a black outer box containing all product information in white text. I love the extra detail of the additional text embossed in black satin. There’s also extra bubble wrap inside to protect your palette during transit. The palette itself is huge since the pans are the standard Beauty Bay size. Despite it’s size, the palette’s not overly heavy though it is a bit cumbersome for holding up. There’s a huge mirror on the inside of the lid and a magnet holding it closed.

This is a 42 pan palette containing 23 mattes, 17 shimmers and 2 mattes with subtle reflects. This palette offers all the colours of the rainbow and then a couple more. I love the huge range of tones for both finishes, it really does make for a well rounded palette for the working mua. There’s even a couple a neutral shades in there.

When doing the swatches, all the shadows felt soft and silky to touch. They swiped smoothly and only needed one layer for an even, pigmented swatch. All of the shades looked bright even without primer under them. The shimmers look stunning too and swatched even smoother than the mattes. They are full of reflects, pigmented and also very bright.

On the eye, the shadows perform well. They have good pigment but you do have to build up the shadows to get the best colour. The matte shades blend easily with each other to produce a variety of gradient as well as contrasted looks. The shimmers are stunning and easy to apply. They applied smoothly with both brush and finger and were also easy to blend together. The shimmers also lasted hours without creasing.

I’ve not had many issues when using this palette. There is some kickback in the pan for the majority of the mattes though fallout under the eye was minimal. It mainly occurred with the shimmers and darker mattes. Easily removed with a wipe or cotton pad. Everything was easy to remove and didn’t stain the skin.

Overall I am so happy with the Bright 42 Colour palette from Beauty Bay. The packaging is well made and fits with the others in the series. The shade range is incredible containing all the colours of the rainbow across both matte and shimmer finishes. The shadows are fairly pigmented, buildable and easy to blend. The shade range allows for a great variety of looks to be created. The shimmers last for hours and none of the shades stain the skin.
