Bella & Co Cosmetics Up ‘N Smoke Palette Review

Hi lovelies,

I’ve been following this company for ages on Twitter now (see here) and I’ve been wanting to try them since I first found them. The founder Ashley is an amazing, supportive woman and her brand follows her personal ethos.

You can purchase this palette from the company website (see here) and it retails for $21/£19. Unfortunately it is out of stock right now but I’m sure it’ll be back soon but be quick as these products tend to sell out quickly. Be sure to check out Twitter and the company’s instagram for restock alerts (see here). This is a small US based business and I was a little worried about shipping (I’ve been burnt before) however I had nothing to fret over. Order was shipped literally the very next day with tracking and it landed at my door in 10 days.

My order (yeah I ordered a few items) arrived well protected in a box with packing peanuts and bubblewrap. All safe and sound. The palette comes in a clear, plastic sleeve which I assume is for additional protection but there’s no need to keep it. I love the firey flower design on the front and all product information can be found on the back of the palette. The palette is sturdy and well made without being heavy making it perfects for MUAs. There is a decent size mirror in the lid and also magnetic closures that are strong and shouldn’t come apart.

This is a 15 pan palette that contains 12 mattes and 3 shimmer shades. I think this is a good mix as I don’t think you need that many shimmers in a palette and these work perfectly with the mattes. I love the colour story; there’s a great collection of neutrals and smokey shades with some bright pops of colour. The pans are a nice size; not too small

When doing the swatches, the majority of shades felt soft to touch and swiped well. The only shade I had an issue with was Fierce. It’s inpenetrable to anything, I think it’s been pressed too much. I can’t pick up any pigment on my finger and the shadow has taken on a sheen from rubbing at it. So gutted coz it looks such a pretty shade. The 3 shimmer shades felt silky and swatched so well. I particularly love the shade Feelin Blue because of its reflects.

On the eye, all the shadows (apart from Fierce) apply easily and have good pigment. They are relatively easy to blend although purple based shades do need a little more work than the others. The shadows don’t lose much pigment when blending and none of them become patchy at any stage. The shimmers are gorgeous and apply well with a brush. There is some kickback in the pan for most of the matte shades and a small amount of fallout under the eye with the darker shades and shimmers.

Overall, I am so happy with my purchase from Bella and Co and I will definitely be reordering. Although I have one unusable shade, I’m not swayed from this company as the rest of the palette is amazing. For the price, I have no complaints. The packaging is basic but sturdy and well made plus I loove the design on the front. Aside from the one shade, the shadows are pigmented but still pretty easy to blend.
